In 2015, at a turning point in my life and after my first entrepreneurial experience, I sat down in front of my piano that I hadn’t touched in eight years. And the emotion I felt that day was so strong that I thought it would be great if everyone could feel that at some point in their lives. It is said that music is the universal language, the one that connects us to each other. However, only 12% of us play a musical instrument when 85% of the population wants to. And 9 out of 10 people who start playing the guitar, the most sold musical instrument in the world, stop within the first 12 months of practice. That’s not a lot of happy people for a lot of frustrated people, you’ll agree! That’s why we have developed the Joué Play, a fun, and easy-to-use musical instrument. What makes your product special? The Joué Play is an instrument designed to facilitate access to musical practice. It is designed for children who marvel at the first notes as well as for adults who discover a new way to (re)make music. Basically, it’s composed of a wooden board on which you place modules that represent instruments (Drum, Guitar, Keys, and Piano). Using RFID technology, the pad is automatically recognized by the app or any other musical software and you can start playing, then change the instrument in a blink of an eye. The Joué Play application (available on iOS, PC and MacOS) and the content that goes with it make practicing fun and intuitive. It is also one of the only MPE MIDI controllers, which allows experimented users to add plenty of expressivity to their playing. Our instrument has been designed to make music accessible for everyone and has the functionalities to support the user on their musical journey, from beginner to expert. What has been the best part of your experience? We are a team of passionate people spread all over France and we have an agile & collaborative organization. We promote eco-design of our products – no batteries and very little plastic in our instruments – we manufacture locally and are part of the 1% for the planet movement.
