I used this pen to darken the engraving on some stainless steel medic-alert bracelets. It works really well and I’m happy with the product. But I learned a few things. Clean the metal thoroughly with alcohol before starting, especially if you’ve already worn or used the item. Let the alcohol dry completely. Paint over the engraving generously and set a timer ! Wipe the excess off using semi-absorbent stiff paper, such as printer paper. Don’t wipe with a kleenex or cotton, you’ll take up most of the paint. There’s no law against doing a second coat. The package directions don’t get in to the details, but learning by doing is good. I’m considering a coat of clear nail polish over the engraving, because medic-alert bracelets get a lot of wear. I’ll update this, if the nail polish idea is any good.
